Making the Memories

I may have already said this already, but I really feel strongly that I am currently in the phase of life where I will look back as a parent and think "those were the days".  The days where my kids are old enough to be fairly independent; make their own breakfast, dress themselves, find their own entertainment, etc.  But, they also still enjoy me and want me to be involved.  We are all well rested, we are a team not just two people running around doing all the work, we all are embarking on new experiences together, and we are all make the memories.

Here are some of those memories captured over the last few months.

Milo and his buddy Jacob did the science fair this year.  They made lava lamps with oil, water, and food coloring.

Grammy and Grandpa made it to Denver for Grammy's birthday weekend.  We loved getting to celebrate Gammy and it is always so much fun to get the cousins together.

Maddox got to go to Story Time with Mrs. Chapla this year.  Kiddos wore their pajamas ate snacks and listened to stories read by our wonderful Principal.  Here is Maddox with his best buddies: Evelyn, Josie, and Maddie.

This little cutie lost his two front teeth.  They are growing in, and I know it will be the beginning of him starting to look less like a little boy.

The boys have been spending a lot of time playing catch out front.  Both Maddox and Milo are playing baseball again this season.  I do love baseball season, when the weather cooperates.
Maddox, Liesel, and Nebby love to watch Milo play basebball too.  Well, to be honest, Maddox loves to watch.  Nebby loves the attention.  And Liesel likes to play with her friends at the game. Sometime last year after Milo had played baseball for over two years Liesel finally sat down to watch a game.  When Milo was up to bat she looked at me and said, "Mom this isn't fair.  Milo's team has just one player and the other team has all those players."  Like I said she does more playing with her friends then watching the game.  We are working on explaining the rules now.

I took this gem mid Liesel argument.  A glimpse into her teenage years :)

What a good-looking ball player. One of Maddox's favorite activities right now is to go down to the high school, RV and watch the high school baseball games.  Because we aren't getting enough baseball between his games, Milo's games, and Rockies games:)

Out to dinner with Nana at one of our favorites Las Potrancas.

Maddox got invited to a birthday party at the movies.  They had the whole theater to themselves.  So much fun.

So dad did a thing.  Dad bought a horse for himself.  Meet Gus, he is a 5 year old Friesian and he is a beast over 17 hands.  He is currently living with us until a stall opens up in the stable.  I do have to admit that he has been so good for Scott.  His stress levels seem to drop as soon as he takes Gus for a ride.

Milo and his buddy Braden were asked to be the Emcee's for the School Talent Show.  They did such a good job and looked incredibly handsome.

It's spring on the Farm which means baby chicks and ducks.

Milo's choir got to sing the National Anthem at the Rockies Game this year and Milo made the big screen.
Even Uncle G and Uncle Matt came to watch the game.

The Girls.

Van Arsdale Choir

Pregame fun.  We got to the ball field early and Maddox got a baseball which he got signed by an unknown dodger player.

Best Friends....Sometimes...Usually only when the TV is on.

Maddox teaches his buddy Oliver all about farming.

Liesel and her girl, Nebby

We scored tickets to the regional college hockey finals and got to root on DU to the final four, which they ultimately won.  Not only did we get to go to the game, but we got to sit in a suite.  So cool!

Liesel's art was selected to be showcased in Jeffco's Art Show.  Of course, she drew a horse!

Liesel introduced Amelia to one of the horses at the stables, Alley.

Uncle Matt helping the boys build a fort.  What a good Uncle!

Crazy hair day!

Boys being silly.  Not sure what they are playing but it looks like fun and the picture below is pretty indicative of what our house normally looks like with kids this age.  There will one day be a day for nice things and a house that is put together.....today is not that day.
