Still Waiting..

38 weeks and 5 days and I am ready to have this baby.  I am not sure why I thought this baby would come early since Milo didn't come until 39 weeks and Liesel was only a day before her due date.  I was not prepared to still be pregnant at this point.  I am trying to surrender to the fact that I have no control of when this little one will come.  I have a feeling with the crazy week I have next week, Liesel's Birthday, Milo's Birthday, and Halloween all in a row, that might trigger labor.

Milo has been working really hard on not being too physical with Liesel and I think preschool has helped with understanding personal boundaries.  I am hopeful that this third baby will be an easy transition for him.  Liesel, on the other hand…I am a bit fearful of what her reaction is going to be.  I already sense that she knows she is about to be de-throned.  Over the past two weeks she has been really clingy to me and has really learned how to throw down a good temper tantrum.  I would like to say that I am hopeful for the best, but prepared for the worst.  I am not sure what the worst is though… Either way we are all very excited to meet our newest family member.

Liesel is pushing two and is entering it with a vengeance. I have to say it is a good thing she is cute!

Daddy and Mommy took Milo for a hike last week.  Mommy was hopeful it would trigger labor and we wanted to give Milo some quality time before the baby comes.  He did great.  All in all it was a 2 mile hike with the first half being all uphill.

So recently I have been letting the kids watch more iPad than I probably should.  Pregnancy with two toddlers is rough.  This photo is proof that I won't be getting mother of the year. Oh well, there's always next year.

A Fall Update

Liesel is really starting to talk more.  She seems to have a vocabulary larger than she cares to share with us.  Every day she will say something that I didn't know she had in her.  Yesterday it was umbrella, hat, and coat. Her favorite word lately is "mine".  She is a pretty possessive child.  I think that this stems from having an older brother who tends to take things from her.  This little girl continues to LOVE babies.  We don't go anywhere with out one and she will spend hours putting babies "night-night".  She covers them up with a blanket (we recently taught her not to cover their faces in hopes to avoid suffocation of our upcoming arrival) and tells everyone in the room "shhh", then she moves them and starts all over. She is a bit of a sassy-pants.  Her new thing has been stomping her foot.  Usually she gives a good right foot stomp while telling you "no" when something doesn't please her.  All I can say is thank goodness she is cute and I am petrified of the teenage years with this one.  Both she and Milo are going through a major daddy phase.  If Scott is around then they want nothing to do with me.  I kind of hope this lasts until the baby comes.

Milo is still really enjoying preschool.  He claims to have met some friends, but when I ask their names he says he doesn't know.  I suppose knowing each others names is not important to preschoolers.  He has started to fight his nap recently.  I would say 1 or 2 times a week he has about an hour of quiet time and doesn't fall asleep.  I am hoping he continues to nap when the baby comes in hopes of having some time to myself.  Either way I plan on having at least quiet time for an hour or two every afternoon.  He still loves hockey and we spend most Friday nights at the APEX watching Papa's Hockey team.  It is always an added bonus when Uncle G is also refereeing.   Milo's most recent conquest, riding a two wheeler.  A couple of weekends ago we were at our friends' house and he picked up a bike and started riding it.  Once he realized that it didn't have training wheels he bailed.  The next day we gave it a shot on his bike and he whined the entire time.  I thought for sure he was just not ready.  After dinner he gave it one more shot, with a lot of pressure from Daddy.  Sure enough he took off. He was able to go in circles, down and up curbs, and he can now start by himself.  I am so glad Dad gave him one last push.

We are all eagerly waiting the arrival of baby number 3.  I am probably the most ready as pregnancy has never been my favorite thing.  I recently entered the third phase of questioning: 1st Phase:Are you pregnant?  2nd Phase:When are you due?  3rd Phase:You haven't had that baby yet?  I still have 4 weeks left so I wasn't quite ready for this.  I guess with the third pregnancy you enter Phase 3 sooner.

Scott has one more trip scheduled before baby's arrival.  He will be out of town next week and after that any day is fair game.  He continues to be the busiest man I know.  Between work, family and the farm chores he has very little spare time.  One of my friends asked how he has time for everything.  My response,  "He doesn't watch sports".

We are moving forward with the building plans for our house.  We are 95% done with the design and are hoping to start pricing any day now.  The current goal is to break ground in May of 2015 and be in our house by Christmas of 2015.  We are so looking forward to, but a little nervous for, the adventures we have ahead of us with building a new home.

We had a family trip to the Denver Zoo recently and the kids got a bonus treat, riding the carousel.

"Papa, you make this look so much easier than it really is."

Sunday morning cartoons.  I love me a mellow morning.

A birthday hug for one of his top gals, Sloane.  These two just kill me.

Grammy and Liesel snuggle time.

Milo has a lot of fun working at the farm.  Here he is helping Dad harvest our pumpkins.

Liesel idea of farm work, pick a crop and start eating.  Her two favorites this time of year are raspberries and corn.

Milo with our neighbor's horse Sam.

Horseback riding.

We watched my parent's dog, Mork, this last weekend.  Liesel enjoyed "babying" him.

Gotta love the rare moments when this little man wants to snuggle up with Mama. Side note:  What I wouldn't give for those lashes.

A Preschooler and Bunk Bed Buddy

The summer is coming to end and we, at the Aschermann household, have met two big milestones.  Milo started preschool and Liesel is now sleeping in a big girl bed. These two events happened last week.  I am thankful that I am expecting another baby soon because I think the water works would have been on full blast seeing how fast these two are growing up.

As typical of posts where I have waited too long between updates I will do the pictures do most the talking….

After 6 weeks of soccer we finally succeeded in getting Milo on the field the whole time.   Scott was very patient with him and each week helped talk him on to the field earlier and earlier.

Watching some cartoons and having a snack after nap time.   I thought they looked like such big kids in this picture

I don't normally see a strong resemblance between Liesel and Milo, but looking at these two photos of them sleeping you can definitely tell they are related.

After a long month of Daddy traveling Milo was in need of some rescuing.  Too much girl time!  Hurry home Dad!

Pudding Time

One of Milo's rewards for going out on the soccer field was a hockey lesson with Dad.

As mentioned, Milo started preschool.  Here he is at preschool orientation.  Nana and Daddy took him since Mom was out of town on a girls' weekend.  (A big thanks to Dad from Mom)

Dress up.  Looking good kids.

Zoo Carousel.   I am starting to look awfully pregnant.  I can't believe I only of two more months before we meet our third baby.  At the same time, two months seems like a long ways away.

Playing with our cousins.

Connor reading to Joslyn and Milo.

So this last weekend was Labor Day weekend.  I was off Friday through Monday and Scott was off for three days.  On Monday night, the week Milo starts daycare he and Liesel decided Liesel must try the big girl bed.   Who does that? Well, we thought why not and they did great.  I am also thankful I don't have to anticipate the move, worry about how it will go, and if it will effect our sleep.
She has officially moved in and the two are now roommates.  They couldn't be more excited!

Milo's First Day of Preschool.  He started at Happy Valley on September 4th.  He was so excited.  He got to wear his new shoes and take his new backpack (Thank you to Nana for both).  Once there he looked a bit shell shocked, but there weren't any tears and he asked if he could go back soon.  I would call it a success.

Kisses.

I thought that when I went to pick Milo up he would come running.  No, he looked at me and kept on dancing and singing with his class.  His teacher told me that he was very excited to answer the question of the day "what is your favorite color".  He said, "Blue, like my shirt and my eyes."

Love these two!

He was still all smiles after school.

Summer Fun

I am blown away at how fast the summer is going.  We have had a beautiful summer so far.   The days haven't been too consistently hot and we have been getting a lot of afternoon showers which helps cool off the evenings.  The only bad thing is hail.  We have had a few good hail storms.  One of which, took out what little garden we had this year.  We still have some squash plants and corn.  The corn looks more like bamboo, but we think it will survive.  I haven't posted any pictures of the garden since it is pretty sad this year.   We are making progress with other projects though.  We are finalizing our house plans and hope to building next spring.  Scott has put in a main water line for irrigation and we are getting electric and gas installed this week.  The next step is the bridge.  There is never a lack of projects to do.

The kids have had a great summer.  Milo and Liesel both did gymnastics earlier and Milo is now in soccer.  He hasn't actually participated yet, but hopefully next week he will join in.  The first day he got out there and was ready to take charge.  They had a little warmup run across the field and Milo did not "win".  He came running off the field in tears and we haven't been able to coax him back on.  I think it may be time to getting him in a preschool at least once a week.  I am starting the hunt now.  Liesel continues to ham it up and is starting to talk more.  She still prefers to grunt and "eh".

Scott has been home a lot of the summer and it has been great to have him around.  His travels are going to start picking up and I am sure we will all miss having him home.  My job has continue to be rewarding and very busy.  Balancing my profession and motherhood is no easy task, but somehow I seem to be managing. I am still working Monday thru Thursday (and some on weekends).  The four day work weeks is great for our family.

So stinking Cute!!!!

Finger Paint, this is typical Liesel and…..

this is typical Milo

He sure looks the part.

We got bunk beds.  We are going to move Liesel into Milo's room in September.

New chickens.  Milo is becoming quite the chicken handler.

Museum Fun!  Milo has a new interest in outer space.  I think we have a halloween costume idea… Milo the astronaut, Liesel and Daddy the aliens, and Mommy the planet (assuming I am still pregnant).

Milo and Sloane holding hands after learning all about dinosaurs.

Liesel getting ready for the water table at the Discovery Center.

So we have a "tinkle tree" in our backyard for Milo.  This morning Scott and I looked out the window and saw this.

Farm Fun.  Liesel and Milo helping move rocks with Daddy

Taking Sam for a ride.  Liesel was all in, Milo choose not to.  Pretty much sums up their personalities these days.

Look a picture with the whole family in it!  A rare gem.

Our cousins came and join in on the fun!
