August 2011
We have been having a great summer watching Milo start the transition from baby to little boy. The only downside is that Scott has been on the road a lot, but he still gets to see all of Milo's milestones daily thanks to the technology of skype and "face-time". He is officially crawling. His new mobility has turned frustration into opportunity. He climbs up and down from couches, coffee tables, walls, doors, chairs, legs, Bosco, anything that goes vertical from the floor is Milo's jungle gym. He also has four teeth. Yes, within two weeks the little guy got his first four teeth, the two bottoms and the top two side teeth. He got the left top tooth first, which is apparently totally out of order. What can I say he marches to the beat of his own drum. If he doesn't get his top two teeth soon we may have a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. :) Considering he is teething like crazy and last week he came down with a second helping of RSV (a respiratory virus) Milo is a pretty happy kiddo! I am one lucky Mama!

Grandma Time and then to California
So we have had a busy couple of weeks. We got back from vacationing in California on Saturday (I will get back to this), and the week before we left, Milo had some quality time with his grandmothers. Laurie, Milo's day care provider went on vacation and Nana and Grammy stepped up to bat. We are so lucky to live close to both sets of grandparents. It is a joy to watch them with their grandson. I will say they are not the same people who raised Scott and me. I know for fact that Milo will get away with sooo much more with them than we ever did :)

After his week with Nana and Grammy Milo took his parents to California to meet his new friends Connor and Taylor and so Mom and Dad could hang out with the rest of the Guglielmo/Williams crew. We first went to Lake Tahoe for a couple of days. It was remarkable the amount of down time we had considering between the two families we had 3 kids under the age of 3. We then headed to San Francisco. Here we toured the city, went to the beach and went to the Children's Discovery Museum. Besides all of the site seeing Milo worked on trying to keep up with Connor. This must have worn him out because he was a very good sleeper for us. When we got back from vacation we had a minor set back with sleeping. Milo learned how to stand up in his crib, but had not conquered the ability of getting back down.. When I went in the first time to put him back I couldn't help but smile, but by the fourth time at midnight Mama was not smiling anymore. Thankfully the last couple of nights I have gotten my good little sleeper back...phew!
Come on ride the train....Join Milo and Connor!

Oh the things I can do
So since rolling, Milo has added many new milestones to his list of accomplishments. He has really started to babble, lots of ba, ba, ba, some screams, the occasionally “ppppppppp” noises of raspberries, and he is working on da da da and ma ma ma. When asked how big he is he will put his arms above his head for “So big”. He no longer does this on demand and often leaves Mom looking silly when trying to show off her baby’s new “trick”. I believe it is his way of reminding me that he is indeed a little boy comprised of a personality all of his own, who decides when and what he wants to do and not a dog in training. Sometime he will spontaneously throw his arms in the air in order to hear mom shout from wherever she is “SO BIG”. Clapping is coming along. He is finally coordinated enough to get his hands together. It was pretty cute when he would wave his arms around in hopes that they might hit each other, but watching this little human actually clap is just as cute. One of the biggest accomplishments and perhaps the scariestt for mom is that Milo is so close to crawling. He gets on all fours from a sitting position and rocks back and forth. Every once in a while when the stars align just right he actually gets a couple movements in. Bosco’s dog bowl has been the biggest incentive to get this little guy going. He has been expressing some frustration with not being able to get where he wants so I think he will be a happy boy once he figures out this crawling thing. I am a bit intimidated by the thought of a moving baby. It is nice being able to put the little pumpkin down and know that he will be in the same place that I left him, relatively. I am not sure how I will get through our morning and evening routines with a baby on the move, but I am sure we will figure it out. After all he has to move at some point. Another one of Milo’s triumphs thus far is that he has successfully pulled himself up from a sitting position to a standing one. Milo's most recent discovery is waving. He will now wave good bye. As if it wasn't already hard enough leaving him. This little guy is growing up so fast and he changes daily.

Milo and His Grandpas
Grammy and Grandpa Thompson made it to Denver over this last week. We were so happy to see them. Milo is changing every day. He loves to sit up and play with his toys. His new favorite activity is taking his toys out of boxes. It is the duty of his guest to restock the box and it is his job to empty it. He has been eating some finger foods. He LOVES chopped up veggies. He will grab them by the handful, granted he only gets one or two in his mouth. Well after meal time we will be playing and I will notice he still has a pea, a carrot and maybe even a piece of corn in his mouth. He is my little squirrel. My absolutely favorite thing that Milo has been doing is the raspberry. He puckers up his list and blows making the cutest BBBBBBBB noise ever. It is all day long. He must like the way it feels on his lips.

What a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!!!
I think it is easy to get caught up in the joy of a long weekend full of sunshine and forget to recognize the reason we celebrate Memorial Day. I want to start by thanking all of those in the military and the families who support them. Thank you for all you do and the sacrifices you make!
We enjoyed the weekend with an action packed schedule. On Friday Milo and I spent the day with Candace and Sloane. We even got the babies on the same napping schedule so Candace and I could have some time to chat. It has not only been a huge support, but so much fun to have babies together! On Saturday Scott and I went out with our friends Mike and Shannon while Milo had a date with Nana and Papa. We had dinner reservations in downtown Denver at 8:00 and had drinks before hand. That is right, this Mama and Papa weren't eating with the early birds a 5:00 and we actually got to enjoy our food instead of shoveling it in. Thank you, Janet and John! On Sunday we went to a barbecue at the Ward's house. Tons of kiddos and tons of fun. Finally on Monday we all did the Bolder Boulder. Scott and I ran it and then met Nana, the Smith crew and Milo to walk it. Between running it, walking it and all the hustle to and from the car Scott and I ended up traveling over 15 miles. Luckily, Milo took an awesome afternoon nap and so did Mom and Dad. It was a quiet Monday afternoon at the Aschermann house. Not only was Milo an excellent baby all weekend he was a very good sleeper. We got three nights in a row of sleeping through the night. He is able to get his pacifier in all by himself which saves us from helping him in the middle of the night. Last night he insisted on nursing at 2 am. I think the best thing about nursing is the middle of the night feedings. They are rare, but when they do happen we can both snooze during the feeding. After our date at 2 Milo slept until 8 this morning. Go figure, the one morning I have plans he sleeps in. I guess I can't bank on him being my alarm clock any more. Ooooh....Babies.....Gotta love them!

The tubes are in
Milo had surgery on Friday to get his ear tubes. We had to be at Children's Hospital at 5:30am. I was hoping to sneak him into his car seat without waking him up, but as soon as that little boy saw his Mama he was ready to party. He was up until his surgery at 7:30am. The actual surgery was very fast. From the time that we left Milo with the nurse to when we were able to go back to see him was less than 15 minutes. I was glad that it was so fast because I was very anxious. The nurse said that he was one of the happiest babies she has seen coming off of anesthesia. I am sure they say that to all moms, but it still made me feel better. The surgery was a success and Milo seems to be doing great.
Milo also attended his Great Grandma Aschermann's 90th birthday party. She seemed to really enjoy herself and it was fun to introduce Milo to some of his family members on his Papa's side. I think he might have been a bit overstimulated because he was a terrible sleeper that night, but at the party he was a perfect baby.
Milo's diet (along with his waist line) is expanding daily. He is currently working on finger food. His fine motor skills still need a lot of practice. Milo is willing to spend the necessary time in the highchair practicing.
Milo gives the best kisses!!!!!
