So, I got Maddox’s preschool
packet. Yep, Maddox started preschool, welp. Part of this packet was
a 3x5 card that the teachers would like me to use to describe Maddox. Give them a glimpse of who he is. I thought, "what a good idea". I should do this for each kid every year so I
remember who they were at each stage.
Sure, a 3x5 index card would not be nearly enough room to describe it
all, but it sure would get the highlights.
Maddox Robert Aschermann
3 ½ years old
The half is very important to
him. Maddox is incredibly social. He will talk to anyone, anywhere. “Who are you?
What’s your name? Who that? Why you here?
I’m MacMac” He loves imagination play with his older
brother and sister. Pretending to be a
spy, a baby, a daddy, a teenager, an animal, a worker guy. He LOVES it! He has picked up a lot from Milo and Liesel
including all the good things from numbers, counting, “reading” books before
bed time, sharing, empathy, and humor.
He has also picked up the not as endearing things: potty talk, whining, fighting, not sharing, screaming,
and generally invading people’s personal space.
Though he tries to keep up with the big kids he is still a little guy.
He just gave up his pacifier last week.
He loves tractors, our farm, Paw Patrol, and anything to associated with
construction. He often turns his t
sounds to k’s which may make it hard to understand him, but his lispy speech is
music to my ears. I could listen to him
talk all day. And some days it feels like I do. 
Liesel Mary Aschermann
5 1/2 years old
Never forget the half. Liesel is fearless. She learned to truly swim this summer. She dives into the deep end of the pool. She does back flips off the side of the
pool. She loves hanging from the monkey bars
and climbing. Liesel is also smart, independent,
sweet, loving, and hard headed. She will
often give random proclamations of love. She taught herself to tie her shoes so
that she could wear her red high-top sneakers.
She changes clothes no less than three times a day not including pajamas. She LOVES imagination play. Most of her sentences with her brothers
begins with “pretend we…..” She adores
animals and loves pretending she is one, a cheetah, a horse, a coyote, a dog, four
of her favorites. Since Liesel was a
little girl she has had her signature laugh.
It is a throating hoarse laugh that is extra contagious. Though they may
not admit both her bothers love playing with Liesel. She can create fun no matter where she is. I can't believe she is now a kindergartner. I know she will thrive at school because of who she is and all the things I just described about her. She is a bright star!5 1/2 years old
Milo John Aschermann
7 1/2 years old
The half is still important at
his age. Milo has started playing
cards. It has been so much fun to have game
nights and play games we both like. Like
most kids his age he loves to “floss”.
The coolest dance move in elementary school. He still adores hockey and he did golf and
lacrosse camps over the summer. He loved
them both. No matter which sport he is playing
he is the hardest work kid out there. He
won’t wear anything except sports shirts and shorts. He is good at math and is still trying to
navigate the reading thing. He enjoys helping his dad around the farm. The truth is he just simply enjoys his dad. The two of them are two peas in pod and are
so much alike! He loves playdates with his friends, but is equally happy with
family time. A good back scratch, a good
movie or game, and time with the family makes for a great Friday night for this
kid. Milo is sweet, empathetic, hardworking,
smart, artistic, and generally just a great kid. On the first day of second grade Milo walked into his classroom, smiled and said hello to his teacher, then started catching up with his friends. I had mixed emotions of being proud of what a confident second grader his is and a little sad that he is so independent. He did let me hug him before I left the classroom.
