April 1, 20111

It was 75 degrees out today and I loved every minute of it. I have enjoyed the winter, but am ready for summer. Scott got home on Wednesday night. All three of us road our bikes (Milo in his charriot behind Scott) to the pool today. Milo is definitely getting very comfortable in the water. I am excited for our neighborhood outdoor pool to open up. It will be nice to just walk the couple blocks for some fun in the sun. We are still working on the tummy time. It was Nana Janet's spring break this week and she spent a lot of time with Milo on their tummies. The "little" man is kicking and twisting but still no rolling. I have a feeling he will be sitting before he rolls. Let's give him a break, 21 pounds is a lot of weight to lift :). We have now introduced the jumper, the exersaucer and the walker into Milo's world. He loves being upright and whenever he is in his swing or carseat he spends most of his time doing sit ups trying to get upright. I have discovered that he is very flirtatious when playing on the ground. If you lay down next to Mr. Casanova he will grab both your cheeks and go in for smooches. Mostly trying to gnaw on your chin or nose, but I like to think of them as kisses. I keep thinking that he is going to wake up with a tooth. Everything within Milo's reach goes straight into his mouth and is fiercely chewed on. I don't see any changes in his gums so I suppose it could be a while still. I have to laugh at the fact that it is not even 9:00 on a Friday night, I am blogging and my son, dog and husband are fast asleep. A pretty mellow night on Flora Street! Boy oh boy has my life changed....and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Milo went back to the doctor on Friday for a checkup on his ears and he still has an ear infection. We are on our 3rd type of medicine and I have started to take him to the chiropractor. A family friend recommended it and after our first visit Milo slept 11 hours. I hope it works; at this point I am open to anything that might help those little ears. We haven't progressed on the rolling yet. Milo has a lot of weight to roll. He gained another pound he is now at 21lbs 30z. People keep saying he will slow down...:) I hope that comes soon...my back can't handle a much bigger boy :) We have introduced the sassy jumper. Milo is still figuring it out and seems perfectly content in it. Scott has been out of town for about a week and he will be back on Thursday. We have had a lot of help and company while he has been gone and have had a good week.

Uncle Robert and Aunt Jen came to town this week. They were on their way through Denver on their way to Alaska for a Ski Adventure. It was so great to seem them.
Milo had a play date with his best pal, Sloane Avery Sturges! Such a sweety!

Milo takes his exercise very seriously!

Pool Time

JjThe Aschermann Family went to the pool today. Milo spent alot of time watching all the other kids. I think he enjoyed himself. It wore him out. He is "lights-out" for his morning nap right now.

Happy Kiddo!

Happy Daddo! Scott took Milo down the slide. It was a bit more intense than anticiapted. Boys will be boys!

Training Week

Another week has passed and it is Friday again. I love having Fridays off of work, it seems to be a great combo of family and work life. Trying to balance the two can be challenging as all you parents know, but I am lucky to have so much help. Scott is the best husband ever!!! He has done most of the cooking this week and every morning he packs up my stuff for me and puts it in the car so I don’t forget anything. It is great watching him with Milo now that he is less mommy dependant (I am referring to Milo not Scott). Scott is heading to Saudi Arabia for the next 10 days. We’ll see how things go without Dad! I am glad that the weather has warmed up. It makes it so much easier to get Bosco walked when I don’t have to bundle Milo up.
Milo seems to be feeling better. He was a fantastic sleeper last night. He went 10 hours plus an additional 1 ½ after a pacifier plug. I slept in until 7:15 and when I went to go check on the “little” guy he was wide awake and playing with his hands….sweet boy! All that rest paid off. This morning Milo rolled from his front to his back. Well…it was from his side/stomach to his back, but I’ll give it to him. We are going to hit the tummy time hard this week. It will be an intense training week. Goals: rolling and slimming down :). Today was also took our first nap time in the crib. He just woke up after a two hour nap and is entertaining himself with a mylar balloon. Who needs fancy toys!

4 months

With our hospital visit behind us we are starting to get back into our routine. Milo still isn't sleeping all the way through the night. He wakes up 2 or 3 times a night between 7:30pm until 7:00am. He only needs his pacifier to get back to sleep, so he is still doing really well. Last night he did great and slept from 7:45 until 5:30am and then down for another hour. I am very excited for the night that he sleeps all the way through without any help from mom. I know that it will happen soon. In the meantime I am just trying to enjoy our cuddle times in the middle of the night.
Milo is 19 weeks old today and had his four month check up on Friday. He weighed in at a whopping 20lbs 4oz. He is off the charts for weight and in the 75 percentile for length and head size. I was a bit worried that I might be over feeding Milo, but his pediatrician assured me that you can't overfeed a baby when he is only on breast milk. He should start to slow down soon. Hopefully he will. We are on the biggest size of his diapers and they need to last through potty training. Plus, I don't know how long I can carry this little whopper!!!! I guess I will continue to work on my arm muscles. There is no better exercise routine than carrying around my little tike. The peditrician had some bad news. It turns out that Milo has two ear infections. He hasn't shown any signs of discomfort. I am so glad we had a check up so that we can start getting his little ears better. Apparently amoxicilin does the trick for 95% of kids and Milo is one of the lucky few who have to have a stronger antibiotic. I hope he starts to feel better soon. Maybe now he will start sleeping better ;)
Today Scott brought home a new high chair. It is great!! I knew that I wanted a wooden high chair with a tray and this is what we found. Milo loves sitting up at eye level and banging his toys on the tray.
Everything is going great and Milo continues to discover new things every day. I love thinking of how exciting life must be for him....I know I wake up excited every day to see what he has in store for me.

Does this look like a boy with 2 ear infections?

Swinging!!!!

Hospital Visit

I am finally feeling rested enough to update everyone on our hectic week. Last weekend Milo came down with a cold. I wasn't too worried, he has had a cold before. By Sunday he was very weezy. I took him into the doctor's office on Monday and they diagnosed him with Brochiolitis. They said he should recover okay, but they wanted to schedule a follow up appointment on Tuesday. After a very rough night I headed to work on Tuesday and Scott took Milo to the doctor. Around 9:00am I got a call from Scott saying the Milo was going to the hospital. After my initial response of panic I pulled myself together, with the help of my sister and met my boys the hospital. Milo was on oxygen and still flirting with the nurses. We spent four days in the hospital while Milo recovered from RSV and his ear infections. We were released on Friday after his oxygen levels were stable. I have to say that though it wasn't the ideal setting I loved watching Milo discover the world. During our week in the hospital he really started to find his hands and was very excited to discover his tongue. He has started to laugh and bring his hands to his mouth. He is getting so strong and growing like a weed. He is the only kid I know that goes to the hospital and gains weight. He weighed 19lb 4oz on Monday and on Tuesday he weighed 19lbs 14oz....I love that guy:) We are back home and working on getting back into our routine. I am just so happy to have my happy little boy back.

One good thing that came from our hospital visit is that Milo has graduated from the swaddle.

Milo Update

Well Milo is growing like a weed! Actually quicker than a weed. At his two month appointment he weighed in at 15lbs 11oz (99th percentile). Not only is he getting bigger he has really started to show his personallity. It is safe to say that he is a happy little (well not that little) boy. He started to really smile in January and now he is full of smiles. He is a chatty one. Any time he is lying on his back and someone is around to listen he will coo your ear off. I love hearing his little voice and I wish I spoke baby so that I knew what was on his mind. This past week he really started to grab onto things and is in the process of figuring out his hands. He sleeps pretty well. He goes to bed sometime between 7 and 8 and sleeps until 7 the next morning. We usually have to give him the pacifier at 5 to help him through those last two hours. We are working on getting rid of that routine. Overall we are enjoying our happy boy and can't wait to see what each day brings us.
