Liesel is 5 months...

The past couple of weeks have been a bit challenging for this mama.  I have felt as though I was a little behind at work and at home.  I need to be cloned.  Milo and Liesel both have colds right now.  Luckily they are pretty minor.  Milo had a fever on Thursday so I took him to the doctor's in fear that he had another ear infection, but his ears look good.  I am hoping he has out grown the chronic ear infections I have outgrown fearing that Milo has another ear infection.  For now...thank goodness we have good insurance and my concerned mama visits to the doctor are only costing us $20.
Milo has gotten easier to understand.  I am no longer constantly interpreting for him.  Every once in while he gets going on a long story and I haven't a clue what he is saying.  He still has no interest in potty training.  He has yet to tell me when he has pooped, and when I ask he insists that he has not.  God forbid we interrupt play time to change his diaper.
Liesel is now 5 months old and continues to be the smiliest baby EVER!  Even with her pathetic cold induced eyes and a runny nose she still smiles.  She has started to sit by herself for a couple of seconds (and sometimes minutes) at a time.  I think by the end of the week she will have mastered sitting.  We also started her on rice cereal in the evenings.  I was hoping it would help her sleep better.  It hasn't.  Last night she got up four times.  I think this is the main culprit for me feeling overwhelmed during the day.  The nice thing is, as a second time mom,  I know that this will pass.  She will one day sleep through the night.  I go to bed each night hoping that "this is the night".  So far, it hasn't been...  Her naps have improved since we started putting her in her crib at nap time.  The days of her falling asleep in my arms and snoozing for hours are limited.

The awesome glasses and hat Milo made with Grammy for St. Patricks day.

Our neighbor came by with googles on and it scared the beegeezus out of Mo.  So I got him his own googles to see that they aren't scary.  He wore them all morning.

Happy girl during her first solid meal...Rice cereal...yum.

March Snow

Well the month of March has proven to be the teaser month that it has always been.  We have had 60 degree days intermixed with snow days.  It is great snowman building weather.  This Saturday we had a snow day and the whole family stayed in their jammies all day.  It was such a nice day.  As I lay there holding Leisel and watching Milo and Scott play I realized how incredibly lucky I am.  I have a great husband and healthy, fun kids.  I am blessed.  Liesel is continue to grow like a weed.  She has taken to screaming when she is happy.  The girl has some pipes on her.  She is in, what Grandma Laurie calls,  a restless stage.  She can see where she wants to be, but can't get there.  She is sleeping like a four month old.  Some nights I get 9 hour stretches and other nights she wants to eat every 3 hours.  She had her 4 month check up a couple weeks ago and she is in the 70th percentile for weight, height and head size.  She is perfectly porportional at 15 lbs.  Just for giggles note that Milo was 22lbs at his 4 month check up.  Milo has started to carry on conversations and he is a little mimic. You don't realize all your little habits until you have a 2 year copying you.  His new favorite line is "Oh Shoot".  Luckly for us, he is picking up Mommie's phrases and not some of Dad's more inappropriate language.  I am sure it only a matter of time before a very adult phrase exits that little boy's mouth.  We also welcomed new baby chicks into our family.   We now have baby chickens down at the farm.  It has been fun learning about the hatching process and we are glad they joined us just in time for Easter.

Snow time!

Hockey for Mo and Tummy time for Liesel

So February has come and gone and I have already been back to work for 5 weeks.  For the most part it has been an easy transition.  Milo and Liesel are in great hands and love daycare.  I am trying to learn how to turn work off when I am at home and family off when I am at work.  Scott was out of town last week so it was just the kiddos and Mommy.  Milo is going through a bit of a challenging stage.  He has learned the art of throwing temper tantrums.  I know this is a stage and it will soon pass, but for now it is a good thing he is so cute!  He is starting to put words together and carry on conversations pretty well.  His favorite topic is hockey.  We talk a lot about what is needed to play hockey....skates, helmet, puck, stick, jersey and my favorite, elbow pads.  Listening to a two year old pronounce elbow is indeed entertaining.  Liesel rolled from her tummy to her back last week, but has no desire to do it again.  She has discovered her feet and is getting really good at grabbing things.  Everything goes straight to her mouth.

Milo and Nana at the Hockey game.

We went out to celebrate Nana and Papa's Birthdays.  Here is Liesel in her party outfit.  Little girls are so much more fun to dress.

 More tummy time.

We finally got enough snow to put on all our gear and go play.

Nothing smells better than a clean baby.

So far Liesel isn't as much of a hockey fan as Mo.
