Oh my, it has been a long time since I have updated the blog. Where do I even begin? Milo turned one, he now says “mama” and he has started to walk.
For Milo’s birthday weekend Grammy and Grandpa came and stayed with us. We went to the neighborhood Halloween Carnival with the cutest ladybug and cowboy in town also known as Josyln and Connor. Milo wore his hippo costume. We went to Milo’s favorite restaurant Tequilas. He loves their cabbage salsa and the mushrooms they serve with their fajitas. Milo’s birthday party was Sunday evening the day of this birthday, October 30th. We had so much fun celebrating with family and friends. Milo’s guests included Sloane, Truman and both of his cousins, Josyln and Connor. We were all very excited to watch Milo devour his cake. Come cake time he put one figure in the frosting and decided he had enough. I guess he is a bigger fan of the savory than the sweet. We were so happy to share his big day with such wonderful people and he got some great gifts. We are a very lucky family with an incredibly lucky little boy.
Milo’s one-year check up was great minus the five, yes can you believe it, FIVE shots. He weighed in at just over 29 lbs and is 31 inches tall. He is in the 100 percentile for weight, 90th for height, and 95th for head size. It is safe to say he is just a big kiddo. His ears look great so the tubes are doing their job. He is still on asthma medicine. We tried to take him off but he started to get wheezy after about 12 hours. Overall he is a healthy boy and I count my blessings every day.
Milo now has two words down solid, ball and mama, in that order. “Ball” comes out when he is playing and finds a ball. I am not surprised this was his first word. No matter what we are doing or where we are if he sees a ball he goes directly to it. He actually has a pretty good arm for a one year old. His second word, “Mama” is only used while crying. It is a very pathetic repetitive “mamamamamamamamama” and it still melts my heart every time I hear it.
The biggest milestone since my last Milo update is that he is working at walking. He took his first steps a couple weeks ago and has been practicing every day since. His best walking takes place from Mom to Dad and vise-a-versa. He just started walking from one inanimate object to another on Thursday. Scott came home on Thursday from being on the road and was very impressed with Milo’s “upright” stability and balance. All the walking has been wearing him out. He is taking at least one nap a day and continues to be a good sleeper at night. That makes for a very happy Mama.
I can’t believe that the little bundle we brought home from the hospital is already one. He is looking more and more like a toddler every day and I am having so much fun getting to know this spectacular little being. He is funny, sweet, lovable, smart and handsome. The love I have for Milo is like nothing I could ever have imagined before October 30, 2010. My life has forever been changed. I am so lucky to be his Mom and I am looking forward to seeing what he does in the upcoming months, years and decades. I know it will be phenomenal!!!!
