Last week we made the long haul to Lake Powell. It is an eight hour drive from Denver to Powell. On the way out we were able to use my parents' house in Glenwood as a pit stop. Our intention was to sleep until 4 am and then finish the last 5 hours early in the morning. Milo had a different idea. He ended up getting an ear infection the day before we left so he kind of had an excuse to get up at 2 in the morning. He was up and ready to party. Since we were up we decided to start our journey earlier than anticipated. Milo did fall back asleep and ended up sleeping the entire way. We met Grammy, Grandpa, and the entire Kennedy crew in Powell. I hadn't been on the new boats yet and was pleasantly surprise to find how accommodating to little kids they were. The new "Shady Lady" has two bedrooms which made sleeping arrangements ideal and the new little boat is so nice. Milo enjoyed watching the water pass him by in the speed boat and also found the drum of the motor comforting enough to put him to sleep. We played in the sand, rode in the tube, splashed in the water and went for some hikes. The weather in Lake Powell during September is PERFECT!!!! We all had a great time and were sad when the trip came to an end. I wish we could have stayed longer. Milo did great on the way home. A few pit stops along the way to stretch our legs and have some snacks, but it still only took about 9 hours total. Not too bad! The main reason for the trip was to spend some time with Grandpa before he had surgery. My dad had a double knee replacement on Tuesday. I know it has been a rough week, but we are hopeful it will get better from here. LOVE YOU GRANDPA!
Milo's new favorite activity is stair climbing. He climbs up and we pull him back down, repeat, repeat, repeat. I think it is really started to pay off in regards to his waist line. His diapers are starting to fit him again. At his doctor's appointment for his ears he weighed in at just less than 28 pounds. I think my biceps are looking pretty good these days, at least the right one :). Milo doesn't have any words. He is babbling a lot and recently began growling. It always gives me a good chuckle. My sweet little boy is starting to become opinionated. He points and screams when he wants something, he throws things if he doesn't want them and he giggles when he gets his way. He has also really started to develop a sense of humor. Though Momma and Daddo can usually get a chuckle out of him, he definitely finds himself to be the funniest guy he knows. Whenever he accomplishes something, putting a ball in cup, climbing the stairs, sitting up he gives himself a round of applause. Milo probably spends a good hour of his day clapping for himself. He is his biggest fan, right behind Momma.
In the boat with Aunt Miranda and Joslyn.
